Everything is ready for Mipel 112The most important international event dedicated to leather goods and fashion accessories will return from 17th to 20th September, with an edition that is born under the banner of great sector synergies and aims at successfully continuing its constant research and innovation journey undertaken by Riccardo Braccialini, President of AIMPES, and Roberto Briccola, President of MIPEL
The September edition promises to be an important one for Mipel. Building on the success in terms of buyers and visitors recorded in the latest edition (over 10,000, +6.6% over the previous one), the trade show relies on a strong qualitative offer and important collaborations, such as those with the National Chamber of Italian Fashion and the Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyers, as well as on prestigious internationalisation projects also thanks to the contribution of ICE – Italian Trade Commission and MISE (Ministry of Economic Development), also for the next edition.
Following the success of the previous editions, the two areas THE GLAMOUROUS and SCENARIO are confirmed. The first one, sponsored by the Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyers, is an innovative point where top Italian buyers and emerging designers can meet. In the next edition too, four excellent Italian buyers will “adopt” four trendy designers, giving visibility to their collections both in the dedicated area inside the trade show, and in the showcases of their shop windows. The names of the prestigious shops that will participate in the project are: Mario dell’Oglio’s Dell’Oglio Palermo 1980 , Giovanni Venturini’s Luisa , Giuseppe Nugnes’s Nugnes 1920 and Claudio Betti’s Spinnaker. SCENARIO, instead, is the most alternative stage of the trade show, a focus on new brands and on the research realities within the accessories world, where the collaboration with the National Chamber for Italian Fashion will be consolidated by promoting the meeting between Italian creativity and foreign market, involving 4 international buyers and asking them to sponsor the most interesting new Italian designers. In the September edition the buyers will be: Tokyo’s HP France, Dubai’s Galeries Lafayette, Lotte.com and Metrocity, which are both Koreans.
MIPEL in CITTA’ (“Mipel comes to town”) will be particularly interesting: this project “opens” the doors of the trade show to the public with initiatives that are highly cultural, and in this edition it will gift the city an exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol, scheduled from the 18th of September to the 29th of October at the Fondazione Stelline on corso Magenta 61. Here the master of Pop Art will be celebrated through the works of the photographer Aurelio Amendola: 20 photographic portraits made in New York in 1977 and in 1986 in Warhol’s Factory. The free exhibition is enriched by the presence of the original painting “The Last Supper”, made by Warhol between 1985 and 1987, a few months before his death, during his stay at Palazzo delle Stelline, right in front of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. The painting is particularly rare, as, besides being one of Warhol’s last works, the one exhibited is the only version in magenta, a colour chosen by the artist as a reference to Corso Magenta.
The colours and geometries of Andy Warhol’s works inspired also the layouts of the spaces inside Hall 10, which will host the new S/S 18 collections of over 300 brands from all over the world. The special contest “Mipel incontra Warhol” (Mipel meets Warhol) is also dedicated to the artist from Pittsburgh, and invited the exhibiting brands to make a bag inspired by the genius of Pop Art. The 20 best models will be exhibited on the 18th of September at the Fondazione Stelline, in the context of the exhibition. The evening of the preview the 3 winning bags will be awarded.
