The 148th edition of ILM – the International Leather Goods Fair – confirmed the event’s position of reference on the international trade fair panorama dedicated to leather goods: held in Offenbach from 3 to 5 March 2018, ILM Winter Styles in fact recorded figures in line with last year’ results, with a significant growth trend in foreign buyers, which nevertheless was balanced out by a drop in the number of domestic buyers.

The increasingly international scope of the event was underlined by Arnd Hinrich Kappe, CEO of Messe Offenbach, who declared himself extremely satisfied: “Many of these international companies are by now regular customers, who have been present at Offenbach for a number of seasons, thus confirming the quality and value of our event”. By now, the fair is a fixed date on the calendar not only for European buyers, but also for retailers coming from Russia, America, Asia, and the Near and Middle East.

There has also been a change in the type of buyers coming to the event to create their collections: “While we witnessed a slight drop in traditional leather goods sales – continued Mr. Kappe – , there is a constant rise in interest by textile manufacturers, shoe stores, and concept stores”. In terms of numbers, “their share is now equal or superior to 25% of the total”.


Supporting the Show’s role of reference was, as usual, a clear and well-defined division of the areas, which capably represented all the main international players in leather goods, accessories, and luggage, with a clear expression of the trends for the Fall/Winter 2018-19 season.

Overall, 300 exhibitors participated (294 last year), with 53% of them coming from abroad, in an exhibition area of 13,000 square meters.

There was also a rich programme of events and initiatives, like the “Bag World” and “Luggage World” shows, the Lookbook presentation with the season’s latest themes, and the Chill-Out Party, which offered the perfect opportunity for social interaction and dialogue in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.
