Mipel 111 – a success for buyers and visitorsMore than 10,000 visitors in Milan for the 111th edition of the international fair dedicated to leather goods and fashion accessories, which is an important positive sign
A significant growth on last year, which confirms the very positive trend that began under the guidance of Riccardo Braccialini, AIMPES President and Roberto Briccola, MIPEL President. The total number of buyers grew by 6.6 % compared to the corresponding edition of 2016. About half the buyers in attendance were Italian (+ 6.2 %) and the others were from abroad (+ 7.0 %).
“There was a very positive response from the key reference markets. At the top of the list was Russia with +48.8%, followed by Korea with +28.2%, USA +21.5% and Japan +15.7%. As for Europe, Germany stood out with +18% of buyers. The forecast for September show a consolidating trend thanks also to the high degree of synergy between the fashion and accessory fairs. For ten days, from the start of MIPEL (17 September) to the end of Milan Fashion Week (26 September), buyers will have a complete overview of our fashion know-how” - explained Riccardo Braccialini.
On the wave of their past success, THE GLAMOUROUS and SCENARIO were updated for this edition. THE GLAMOUROUS, sponsored by the Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyers - The Best Shops, is an innovative meeting place for top Italian buyers and emerging designers, and has become a special showcase for L’Inde Le Palais of Bologna with Juhree Erba, Bernardelli of Mantua with Irma Cipolletta, O’ of Parma with CAPSULA and Tessabit of Como with Officina del Poggio. Whereas, SCENARIO is a more alternative platform, dedicated to new brands and the most innovative companies in the field of accessories. It strengthened its partnership with the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, promoting exchanges between Italian creativity and foreign markets. In addition, four international buyers, Korea’s Ilmo, Galleria and Louis Club as well as USA’s Jarbo “sponsored” four Italian designers: Paola Fornasari, Monteneri, Delicatezzen and Silvia Giovanardi. The trends, styles and most recent developments in the TREND AREA also aroused great interest. This space is dedicated to style directions where buyers and the press were able to find a selection of the best proposals presented by exhibiting companies.
“The success of this edition is the result of different factors, two of which are the careful selection of participating companies and a layout that changes from season to season. While the constant search for innovation and new emerging talents is another” - commented Roberto Briccola.
The next edizion will be from September 17th to 20th 2017.
