SchmidSchmid has always played a leading role in the world of fabrics for footwear and accessories. For this reason, each year, the creative team of the Italian company, supported by internationally renowned trend hunters, examines several inspirational themes and develops research articles and stylistic innovations that manifest themselves first with the Trend Book by Schmid (presented in mid-December for the SS18) and then in the main collection that is presented during the fairs of Premiere Vision Paris and Lineapelle Milan.

A strong dichotomy has been developing in the fashion panorama which has split the market into two main areas and this is why, for the next summer, Schmid has focused its attention on two themes: Futuristic & Naturalia.

The first theme relates to a more technological consumer, whose sports-inspired urban style is mixed with the world of haute couture. For this trend, Schmid has worked on innovative materials such as under-glazed carbon fibre or new interpretations of hi-tech materials such as laminated polyurethane. This spirit is also reflected in the use of refined and fashion materials, such as embroidery and pleated organza made in a futuristic way.

The second reference consumer, instead, appreciates the natural world, a theme that is increasingly more relevant and requested. A slice of market that becomes bigger each day and that is attracted by a more organic style, where even the imperfection is considered a distinguishing feature of the fabric. There is a great desire for denim interpreted in different ways; linen and raffia that are mixed in ethnic textures. A natural theme also interpreted in a refined decorative way that uses lace and floral or tropical prints.
