Stahl, world market leader in surface treatment and coating solutions for a wide variety of materials, is introducing Stahl Neo 2.0 to extend its existing, more sustainable Stahl Neo leather finish range to include wet-end products.

The move to include a wet-end solution to create Stahl Neo 2.0 means Stahl now offers a complete portfolio of leather processing products that is compliant with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), and also designed to be free of additional substances, not on the ZDHC list. The expansion of the Stahl Neo portfolio therefore underlines the company’s commitment to industry-leading innovation and sustainability.

Demand for quality leathers with a lower environmental impact continues to increase across the garment, footwear and leather goods industries. The introduction of Stahl Neo 2.0, with its wet-end solution, follows the 2016 introduction of the leather-finishing focused Stahl Neo and means the company now offers an end-to-end portfolio to meet this demand. Huub van Beijeren, CEO of Stahl: “We take reducing restricted substances in our product portfolio very seriously and we are working on innovations to improve our products on a daily basis. The introduction of Stahl 2.0 is fully in line with our ambition to achieve a more transparent and sustainable supply chain.”

Eliminating restricted substances

Not only are the products in the Stahl Neo 2.0 portfolio compliant with the ZDHC MRSL list, Stahl has gone further by excluding other substances like formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, DMF and PFC, from its portfolio, plus substances listed in REACh Annex XIV and SVCH. Remy Vial, Global Technical Service Manager Leather Business: “We are proud to introduce Stahl Neo 2.0. With the inclusion of wet-end products within Stahl Neo 2.0, we can provide tanners with a complete leather product portfolio that can help them to meet the 2020 compliancy goals. The products can be easily adapted to existing formulations and applications. Tanners using our Stahl Neo 2.0 products will be able to produce the full range of leather articles in a compliant, consistent and sustainable way.”

The Stahl Neo 2.0 portfolio consists of over 1100 products and growing.
