The Lenzing Group, world leader in the production of special textile fibers starting from wood, collaborates with Orange Fiber, an Italian company that patented the process of manufacturing fabrics starting from citrus fruits, to produce the first composite TENCEL™ lyocell fiber from cellulose from orange and cellulose from wood. The development of the innovative material intends to promote sustainability throughout the fashion supply chain and redefine the boundaries of innovation in the production of cellulosic fibers.
The TENCEL™ Limited Edition initiative reinvents the fibers of the same name through the use of unconventional raw materials to combine innovation, creativity and sustainability at the service of eco-responsible fabrics. Thus Orange Fiber is working to become the result of this collaboration in a new collection of fashion fabrics that will be presented on the market next October 2021. The collections made with TENCEL™ Limited Edition x Orange Fiber will also be recognizable to end customers, thanks to special edition co-branded labels which will provide relevant information on the production process and the materials used.
"Thanks to this pioneering production with Lenzing, we can contribute to the sustainable revolution of the sector, offering an innovative high quality product to all those brands that are looking for transparent, responsible and ecological supply chains – said Enrica Arena, CEO of Orange Fiber – With end customers increasingly attentive to the environmental impact of their purchases, sustainability becomes an imperative for the fashion industry, which must evolve in parallel and innovate with the use of sustainable materials, to remain efficient, competitive and contribute to safeguarding our planet and future generations".
