The latest edition of the Milan leather fair ended with an excellent 5.6% increase in buyers (with “peaks” of presences in the first two days of the event), thus confirming the positive trend recorded in the last editions.
The presence of “domestic” buyers was also positive (+5%), while foreign markets saw a significant increase of visitors from China (+6.8%), the Russian Federation (+26.1%), India, Indonesia, Japan (+13.6%) and South Korea (+7.8%), the latter are the classic target markets. The number of exhibitors also grew, with the “sold out” target being reached for the second time in a row: more than 100 new brands were exhibited and about 60 of those were presented for the first time in the new SPAZIO project of the Services Centre of Fieramilano-Rho.
This edition saw the addition of the collaboration with Rolling Stone Italia and La Rinascente, which resulted in the creation of the engaging edition of “MIPEL in città”, the off-fair of the event, and the promotion of the “Feel Your Rolling Bag” prize, awarded to Irene Ferrara, the creative mind of SpazioIf, for the “Tartaruga” bag.
The next MIPEL will take place from 16 to 19 September 2018 in conjunction with MICAM and with the strategic overlapping of the last day of Milan Fashion Week.
